    You can stop any start up application using this steps. In windows 8, this start-up application details are listed in Task Manager itself. You can easily disable it via task manger.

    After reading several other webpages on how to turn off the auto start-up feature with Skype, yours was the first that provided success!!! I have been trying to get that to stop for a long time and FINALLY, with your instruction, it.has.stopped! I also saw several other items on that same list that I wanted to stop the auto-start feature. It worked on those as well!!! YAY! Thank you!!!!!!

      Did you get list of other services in the list?
      In the latest version of Skype (Skype for desktop), you can disable it using the following steps.
      Goto Tools -> Options
      In the General settings you will have option to enable / disable Start Skype when windows starts.
      Skype startup option

    In Windows 7, unchecking the box “Start Skype when I start windows” does not work. Also going to msconfig.exe, Skype does not show on the StartUp tab, and therefore can’t be turned off there. Haven’t figured out a way to keep Skype from starting on Windows startup. Going to the Task Manager doesn’t help because it is easier to Quit Skype after it starts up.

    Now that Skype has been incorporated into the Windows environment it seems that you have to login to Skype in order to uncheck the “Start Skype when I start Windows” box. That was the only clean way of disabling it (versus using msconfig).
